Fat Alley has been perfecting their fried chicken and andouille sausage gumbo recipe for years, and is ready to share the resulting delicious stew with you! Hand-made fried chicken and Aidell's Andouille sausage, simmered in a traditional roux and okra base, combine to make a spicy, satisfying and hearty meal.
We offer vegetarian gumbo too!
A vegetarian friend became a bit jealous watching her partner zealously eat a few bowls of Fat Alley gumbo, so she asked if we could make a vegetarian version. We thought: why not? The principles were exactly the same. We simply changed the chicken broth to vegetable broth, and swapped the meat for a plethora of winter greens, which could include mustard, dandelion, collard, kale, chard and beet greens. It's pretty darn good too.
What is gumbo?
Gumbo is a traditional spicy southern stew featuring an okra broth, vegetable roux, and served over white rice. It can be made with chicken, seafood, Andouille sausage, or just about anything really. There is even a special-occasion gumbo made from seven different types of greens. The versatility of gumbo is infinite, and the flavor is unforgettable.
